Does the component’s default styling only use animation to communicate visually what is happening, rather than for purely artistic effects?

Example: it may be appropriate for an expandable/collapsable component to use a
simple animated transition to help the user understand that the expanded and
collapsed states are two representations of the same thing.
Avoid excessive flashing/movement. This cannot only be annoying or distracting to users, people with photosensitive seizure disorders can have a seizure triggered by content that flashes at certain frequencies. See http://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/seizure-does-not-violate.html.
