Pitfalls to avoid while using labman_ud
There are some common errors that labman_ud may make during its usage. In this page we describe some of them and their solutions.
When using zotero to automatically extract the information about publications, it is easy to end with more than one version of the same name (e.g. John Smith, J. Smith). To help disambiguate these terms, users can take advantage of the nickname field in the Person model. This can be achieved using the administration panel (/admin). The management (/management) panel also provides a tool to detect similar names above a given threshold in an interactive way.
To address the topics covered by different entities in labman_ud (projects, publications, news, etc.) tags are used. As they are not validated when they are assigned, nor checked in any way (is up to each research unit to define the rules of entity-tagging), is usual to have several versions of the same tag (e.g Intelligent Environment <-> Intelligent Environments <-> Smart Environments). Tags can be edited through the administration panel (/admin), as well as in the correspondent section in the management panel (/management). Tags can be renamed, removed and assigned a parent topic in order to create a hierarchy.
