Basics and bug fixes

• There are one-off issues under the issue tracker, mostly small. Some Django coding style and logic fixes. Some template and HTML/CSS.

Usability

Make the site work better!

• Conduct research and usability testing
• Improve local navigation
• Minor fixes for global navigation
• Fix mobile nav
• Clarify user-facing forms

Tools

Help the organizers and facilitators to conduct sessions more smoothly.

• Add class listings for students
• Add attendance forms for facilitators
• Create system for reporting on student attendance
• Let facilitators email students through the site

Stories, class materials, and connections

We used to call this "documentation," but it's a bigger question. How can we more expressively talk about the classes we offer? How can we help to extend teacher/student connections beyond the classroom? We start by improving the blog and the class info pages, but we'd also like to share class materials – notes, lesson plans, outlines, references – for use by other teachers.

• Improve the blog
• Add tagging system
• Add maps to class pages?
• Add more photos or illustrations to class pages

• Explore ways of collecting class materials from (willing) teachers

Visualization/analysis

• Explore new ways of looking at classes/students/locations
• Plot classes on a map
• Display student zipcodes

Server move

• Clean up Django project structure
• Move server from Dreamhost to Amazon AWS
• Set up staging server and automatic deployments
• Set up automatic backups
