I'm creating this issue to keep track of progress toward our first official v1.0.0 release.

I think the following PRs should be merged before the release:

• Proper OOM handling and allowing users to replace allocator (Allow users to replace allocator and handle OOM everywhere. #800)
• Add licenses to every file (Add license to every file #799)
• RESP3 verbatim string support (Resp3 verbatim string support #805)
• Better GNU conformance in Makefile (More GNU conforming make install paths #806)
• More flexible SSL API (Wrapping OpenSSL global state initialisation? #804, New proposed SSL API #813, New SSL API to replace redisSecureConnection(). #821)
• RESP3 OOB Push support (RESP3 PUSH messages incorrectly use pending callback #825, Resp3 oob push support #841)

If there's time:

• Stop using reserved identifiers (reserved identifier violation #682)

Please comment here if there are other things you'd like to see in v1.0.0.

I'd be great to have the entry point for explicit OpenSSL initialisation as described in #804.
