#0 Intro

Let's get it straight: 86% of the people in this room will get to the age of 70. That's quite a bit, but less of us (around 60%) will get to 80! Jokes aside this means that we will have less and less people in our friendship circle as time goes by.

#1 Problem

Old people try to fight loneliness and boredom by gathering together in dance clubs and senior centers but sometimes it's hard to socialize and create a sense of community. Listening to music is one of those activities that are seen as universally enjoyables, provided that the music played is of our likings. That's not always the case and finding people with the same taste in music might be hard, leading to a feeling of even more loneliness.

#2 Solution

But today's older people are not the same as just a few years ago: they have smartphones, are busy on social networks and are generally more open to modern technologies, actively searching for novel ways to entertain themselves.
In this scenario Dansuma finds its perfect habitat. By allowing its users to vote for their favourite song to play, our app pushes the idea that expressing one's preference is a good thing. And for those whose song wasn't selected they still get the chance to find the perfect match that has the same peculiar taste in music, making new friendship.

#3 Target

Dansuma is an integrated entertainment system dedicated to hosts of social gatherings where music is to be played.
Dansuma lifts the burden of having to select the perfect playlist for the customers and at the same time helps avoid the generic "easy listening" playlist that is bound to be made when time is a constraint.
In particular Dansuma is designed to help older people socialize and express their preferences in music but its versatility makes it suitable for any situation and for any target demographic.

#4 Product

Dansuma is tasked with creating a poll of 5 songs among those of a VolumIO playlist and asks its users, via a web service, to cast a vote. Right before the currently playing song ends, Dansuma enqueues in the playlist the song that received the most votes. At the same time the poll for the next song to play is sent to the users.
Optionally lights can be driven through standard protocols such as ArtNET.

#5 Business model

The architecture on which Dansuma is built lends itself to the creation of OEM products intended to be installed in venues or sold to homeowners that plan on having regular parties. The novelty aspect of the app may play a major role in easing its affirmation on the market.

#6 Outro

Some proposed extensions to the system are based on data analysis like the introduction of tiered prizes (most votes cast, more conformed, less conformed, random pick) or a "Best match finder" (based on number of same songs voted, not necessarily the winning ones).
