Puke project template

This is a project template for a greenfield Java project. It was first named after the Java mascot Duke, but unfortunately he is very drunk so now he's Puke. Given below are instructions on how to use it.

Wanna know more about 'Puke' 🤮 ????

Introduction

Meet Puke 🤮, your loyal yet slightly tipsy sidekick dedicated to managing tasks. Whether you're slightly inebriated or fully sober, Puke ensures you never forget the important stuff—like keeping the party going or remembering to pay your dues. Puke is characterized by its:

  • Text-based interface: Simple commands, ideal even when your vision is a bit fuzzy.
  • User-friendliness: Easy enough to use even on your rowdiest nights.
  • Rapid responses: Quicker than a bartender's pour!

Setting up in Intellij

Prerequisites: JDK 17, update Intellij to the most recent version.

  1. Open Intellij (if you are not in the welcome screen, click File > Close Project to close the existing project first)
  2. Open the project into Intellij as follows:
    1. Click Open.
    2. Select the project directory, and click OK.
    3. If there are any further prompts, accept the defaults.
  3. Configure the project to use JDK 17 (not other versions) as explained in here.
In the same dialog, set the Project language level field to the SDK default option.
  4. After that, locate the src/main/java/Puke.java file, right-click it, and choose Run Puke.main() (if the code editor is showing compile errors, try restarting the IDE). If the setup is correct, you should see something like the below as the output:
    ______________________________________________________________________
HELLO???!!! I'm Puke and I'm Puk *uwaeh* ing... .-.
    *uwaeh*
    ______________________________________________________________________

Setting up for users

Just let Puke handle your task management while you manage the fun. And remember, it's completely free!

Quick Start

  1. Ensure Java 17 or higher is installed on your computer.

  2. Download the latest .jar file from here.

  3. Place the file in your desired location.

  4. Open a terminal, navigate to the folder containing the .jar file, and run:

    java -jar puke.jar
