This milestone explores verifiable content distribution in decentralized social networks. This project will investigate identity standards and support different providers, allowing key holders to attest to content published using the Distributed Press. For example, the editorial team of COMPOST can sign a piece of content to give it credibility, but others can do so as well. This allows editorial groups to build reputations in a content-centric model, giving credibility to content published by new or anonymous authors.
Decentralized identities and identifiers: Research decentralized identity systems such as Jolocom and identifier standards such as DID and ISCN. Add support to Distributed Press so published content is distributed with compliant metadata and signatures by editorial groups.
Starling Lab’s attestation system: Collaborate with Starling Lab and develop custom UI that showcases Starling Lab’s attestation system for truthful information.
Distributed Press Content API: Expand on Content API to return applicable metadata associated with verifiability and attestation of content. Develop UI in COMPOST to showcase how this information can be accessed by audiences that makes intuitive sense, as to identify verified information from misinformation.
Protocol integrations and project onboardings: Throughout the two years, more DWeb protocols (e.g. Earthstar integration) will be added to the Distributed Press and onboard projects to use the platform, through the Sutty UI or as direct platform integrations. When this milestone is completed, we expect to have integration with at least two new DWeb protocols (e.g. WebTorrent, Earthstar, GUN), and have onboarded at least ten projects onto the platform, including the DWeb website currently stewarded by the Internet Archive.
