Isn't "P2P Blocks" and "ZAPP Script" the same?
What is meant by "Timeouts"?

info to self: see wiki how to implement checkboxes

p2p block: some have done it to prevent störerhaftung in former times ... is totally blocking ports
zapp script: is just doing it in case of a user opens thousands of connections (reaaaally hungry torrents) and just until user clicks on a splash page, which then appears "i want to continue" ... (relevance turned over time a bit from preventing Störerhaftung into "fair use")
timeouts: mean that connection will be cut after a certain amount of time ... there where also some communities, that have unfourtunatly implemeted this to force people to fair use ...

(which I personally reject ... because you cannot fix social challenges with technocratic restrictions ... I would prefer to enlighten and educate people)

What have you implemented to fit to laws/restrictions and to force fairUse?
This is relevant for free, local networks, that offer internet access as a service.

  • nothing
  • VPN tunnels for internet connection into other countries, with different rules
  • Splash page, to inform people what a free network is
  • Splash page, to accept terms & conditions of your free network
  • General P2P Block
  • Timeout, after xx hours, user will be automatically disconnected
  • ZAPP Script, that blocks port 80 in case a user opens thousands of connections (reaaaally hungry torrents) until user clicks on a splash page "i want to continue" after he read infos regarding fair use
  • Tor, to anonymise internet traffic
  • Gateways to anonymise internet traffic

maybe that are 3 questions?

FairUse, Laws/restrictions and Anon?

we should rename that.. many checkboxes would not make sense or are redundant information
so

  • we have a field for "vpn" yet
  • tor and gateway stuff also can be answered at "routing" or "vpn" field
  • "Splashpage" also has an own field
  • Zapp-Script and P2P blocks are crazy stuff. This should be mentioned on a new field "net neutrality"

sorry, it was late last night, so I forgot to mention:

  * we have a field for "vpn" yet

this field will be removed

  * tor and gateway stuff also can be answered at "routing" or
    "vpn" field

routing will only cover routing protocols used in our meshes

  * "Splashpage" also has an own field

will be removed, too

  * Zapp-Script and P2P blocks are crazy stuff. This should be
mentioned on a new field "net neutrality"

I think, net neutrality is the wrong word

this field, however we name it, we planned to use to show things
communities use to protect against legal issues (e.g. workarounds to
störerhaftung)

hm ok, so i would prefer checkboxes for störerhaftung/legal issues:

  • dont bother
  • national rerouting
  • international rerouting
  • kill netneutrality by p2p block
  • kill netneutrality by splash-page
  • fuck störerhaftung
  • still very illegal
  • very legal constructions (verein, förderverein, genossenschaft,Firma,Imperium).

BUT, finally i think we should delete the "störerhaftung" because it makes no sense. we also dont make statistics about having or having not "lightning protection". legality is needed for not being illegal, but thats not a secret :-)

many of these fields should be moved to "net neutrality".. f.i. the "timeout" will not interfere with this störerhaftung at all.. the "net neutrality" is another important topic and is discussed here: #91
