As a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Virginia, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, I am a driven Full Stack developer with expertise in Web-Development and App Development. With over 4 years of experience in developing apps and websites using various tech-stacks, including React, React Native, PHP, Laravel, WordPress, I am dedicated to staying on top of the latest technological advancements in the field.
Recently, I completed a Co-op with Leidos, where I updated legacy code to newer FOSS versions, implemented UI/UX changes for usability improvements, and worked with the Air Traffic Control Department's internal tools support team. My security clearance allowed me to work with sensitive data, which further enhanced my skills in handling and protecting confidential information.
Currently, I am employed as the lead software developer at VarsitySwap, where I am hands-on in all stages of the software development cycle, from planning and design to testing and deployment. I specialize in analyzing algorithms, writing tests and SQL queries, altering code, AWS cloud management, and brainstorming ideas and integrating new systems. My goal is to develop a reliable and secure student-specific ecommerce platform that caters to the needs of the student community.
If you would like to know more about me, please feel free to send me a message. I am always eager to hear from others and expand my network.
Varsity Swap is a collective effort to create a ecommerce platform for College students to be able to buy, sell, rent, trade items and services with each other. THe students also have the option to sublease their places of residence with other authenticated students. The platform started out intially as a solo project, but considering the tremendous scope and the features that needed to be integrated, I recruited more individuals to work on this initiative.
Notable Features
- Student authentication using Google O-Auth
- Student authentication using verification emails
- Ability to post items with as many as 8 images per post (40 mbs all together)
- Custom Built instant chat feature within the app for real-time messaging
- Real time notification alerts using emails
- Ability to change status of posts to Available, Pending, or Sold
- Custom search engine to find items the student wants
- Coming Soon: Ability to pay students using debit/credit cards
Tech Stack:
My contributions to the project
- Designed and developed a peer-to-peer ecommerce platform using PHP and Laravel, facilitating buying, selling, trading, and renting of items among university students.
- Built the platform's front-end from scratch using CSS & HTML and utilized MySQL to implement a robust and efficient relational database; developed and integrated a dynamic SQL builder to support custom search functionality, allowing users to quickly and easily find what they're looking for within the platform.
- Hosted the platform on AWS Elastic Beanstalk and utilized S3 buckets for scalable and cost-effective storage.
- Developed a custom login feature with secure password hashing and encryption as well as integrated Google O-Auth for users to sign in with their Google accounts, improving user convenience and reducing friction during the sign-up process.
- Implemented Git version control, conducted code reviews, troubleshooted issues, facilitated communication between team members and stakeholders, resulting in a high-quality and user-friendly platform.
