A geological simulator is a mechatronic system, which means that it consists of a mechanical and an electronic part.
- Mechanical part: Constitutes the structure of the modeling table.
- Electronic part: This part is made up of all those components that allow the control of the modeling table.
All 3D printed parts are printed with PLA using a layer height of 0.15 or 0.2 and a 60% infill. It will be necessary to print all with adhesion and without support.
3D Printed Part | Layer Height | Infill |
---|---|---|
Y-Axis Holder | 0.15 mm | 60% |
Nema Motor Holder | 0.2 mm | 60% |
Screw Nut Holder | 0.2 mm | 60% |
Bearing Holder (top) | 0.15 mm | 60% |
Bearing Holder (bottom) | 0.15 mm | 60% |
Limit Switch Holder | 0.2 mm | 60% |
Bottom Coverplate | 0.15 mm | 60% |
The simulator is controlled by Arduino software. Python and FreeCAD software were used to design the 3D printed parts.
