PCB Installation

This is the complex part of the modification. Requires soldering skill because you need to cut the wires coming from the Motor controller board and going to the LCD connector and solder these thin wires to a couple of small Wire to Board connectors.

PCB Position Motor

This description takes as reference the 6 wire LCD connector. Below an image showing the LCD connector of the Motor Controller and the corresponding signals.

Function 6 pin Cable color
Controller TX - LCD RX Brown
Controller RX - LCD TX Orange
+Battery Green
+LCD White
Ground Black
Brake (not used) Violet

N.B.

It appears that some controllers have cables of different colors. (The +LCD White wire is Yellow and the Brake Violet wire is Red) Take the connector image as a reference and once the cables have been cut, check with a tester the correspondence between the signal and the color of the cable.

PCB Connectors

The back side of the PCB shows the signal name for each connector pin.

  • The Power connector is a JST-XH 3 Pin (2,54 mm pitch)
  • The optional Temperature Sensor Connector is a JST-GH 3 Pin (1,25 mm pitch)
  • The Controller/LCD connector is a JST-GH 4 Pin (1,25 mm pitch)

The relative cable with matching connectors could be easly found. (e.g. search on Aliexpress JST XH or JST GH)

The antenna connector is a U.FL (IPEX) connector. The antenna is just a wire that should be routed to the ouside of the motor togheter with the other cables. You could fix the antenna wire to one of the cables with some tape or better a shrink tube. The Antenna should be suited for 2.4GHz (bluetooth) operation. Search on Aliexpress U.FL (or IPEX) wire Antenna 2.4GHz.
