Add mentions of TurboWarp (part 1) #293

You could add 1 screenshot, I think. But it's not necessary. |
Yes, for now. I have to add something on inside there (including, well, the link to TurboWarp), but that's for later. |
Maybe a button like the ones for the extension stores would be better? |
Should it be presented as "official", like it is now? |
Would you say it's presented as "official" in the current version of this PR? Why? |
Yes, that's what I'm thinking. I just quite busy doing other things. |
We could also link to Adacraft (just an idea - not saying I support it) |
I also think "try some of the editor addons on TurboWarp before installing" could be rephrased to acknowledge that some users have stopped using the vanilla Scratch editor at all. So, for that portion of users, we aren't trying to convince to download the extension. Instead, we're making them aware that the addons they are using in those editors come from this open source project. What do you think? |
If there are more than two Scratch editor forks/mods then I think it is better to generalize it a bit, like "some implement the addons, one popular example of TurboWarp, but here are the list of other choices"
We could do that, but I want to emphasize the "try" part more that the "offline client" part, but that's just me. I also want you to mind the docs portion. The paragraph of "Since TurboWarp also offers a desktop client, ..." can be improved into something. We can also generalize just like how we generalize what Scratch forks can be used as said before. |
I think I agree, but it's hard to say without judging a final layout/paragraph.
I wasn't exactly referring to the offline clients. What do you mean here?
What information do you think could be added there? |
"Other Scratch mods can include our addons as well. TurboWarp does this." |
On the index page, you were trying to make it so they became "aware that the addons they are using in those editors come from [other] open source project[s]". For the page, I want to focus where people can try it before installing the extension, similar to how some programming languages have a "playground" or "REPL" or whatever the lingo is. |
@Hans5958 Sounds good to me |
Was trying to do this on the new index (#327), and one problem I realise is that linking to https://turbowarp.org/addons doesn't have any linkback to the initial TurboWarp editor. Linking to https://turbowarp.org/editor would be the alternative, but it's better that we can direct the user that "look at that Addons button on the navbar, you should click it," but that would need changes on the other side. |

Should the Scratch font T be used? |
Ah, forgot to tell you that one. I seem to can't find the SVG version of the TurboWarp logo, so that is the placeholder. If anyone can find it, I would appreciate it. |

Should it be monochrome like the others? |
I suck at Inkscape, unfortunately. Would it be possible for you to create one of it? |
|
It's giving me trouble because the outer T the same but with a thinker border. |
I want to balance the contents of the left Install section and the right Try section. I may reconsider this, but just wanted let you know if you had other ideas. |
Maybe the user count could be centered? Or would that be confusing since it would also be under TurboWarp? |
I'm not sure if I have other ideas
Yeah, it would be confusing, but maybe the user count could be moved somewhere else |

Thanks Garbo for approving the mention! Looks like the TW icon is invisible in dark mode, because the button is white. |
Maybe the "try turbowarp" section should be below install and user count (maybe in the future we can move the user count somewhere else too) |
This is actually one of the ideas before having the extension image instead.
Or we could drop the user count altogether (hehe) |

Up for grabs. For now, it just consists of two paragraphs. I was planning to add images, at least TW logo, but not sure if it is needed.
