Sponsorship packages

Rails Girls Summer of Code will pay the selected students 1500 USD per month for a three months period, so they can dedicate themselves to their Open Source projects full-time. As a sponsor, you will be crucial to make that happen.

Rails Girls Summer of Code is all about the community. You will support it as a global project, so your sponsorship will enter a budget pool from which the selected students will be paid.

  1. Bronze - 5,000 USD = logo on the website, lots of tweet love from the community.

  2. Silver - 10,000 USD = same as bronze, but with a bigger logo on the website and a quote or testimonial from your company in the press kit.

  3. Gold - 15,000 USD = same as silver, plus your logo in presentations about Rails Girls Summer of Code.

  4. Platinum - 20,000 USD = same as gold + Konstantin Haase wears a tshirt from your company at a conference and mentions why.

  5. Diamond - Match the combined contributions of all other sponsors = personalized and special perks, please get in touch with us.

Logos on the website will be sorted by amount and date. Please read the information on VAT and tax deductibility in the FAQ (link here) if you are contributing from within the EU and especially from Germany.

It is also possible to sponsor a lower amount, we will be happy about it as well. Should you wish, we could put your name in the thank you list.

We are currently working on additional ideas that haven't been finalized yet, such as cross-promotions with podcasters, newsletters and blogs.

If you happen to have other ideas or if you're missing something on this list, please get in touch! To get in touch, please write to us at [email protected]

Section on VAT (to be added to the FAQ, i.e. not displayed on this page, but linked above instead)

What about VAT and tax deduction for my donations?

We don't really know about tax laws everywhere in the world but according to our tax advisor: "Contributions and payments to Rails Girls Summer of Code are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, they may be deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code (for US) or your local tax authority's advice."

A word about VAT. Sorry to bother you - we'll keep a long story short. If you're not from Europe (to be precise - from the EU) you can skip this. If you're not interested in the company packages or the huge/big packages you can skip too. For all the others: we have to struggle with the odd EU VAT regulations for the above mentioned packages. During you fill out the form and entered an EU country we will show a field to ask for your VAT ID. If you have one please enter it - otherwise your contribution will be reduced by 19% VAT. You come from Germany? We will show you a field to ask if VAT is a recoverable tax for you. If so, we will add the 19% VAT to your contribution and ask you to complete your address data.
