Xconq is a venerable turn-based strategy game that has been ported to numerous computer systems. Its default graphical interface is presently built around Tcl/Tk, but there is a newer SDL version in the works, an older pure X-Windows version, versions for old-school Mac and MS-Windows, and even a curses-based terminal interface. In the graphical version it offers an isomorphic display in addition to the traditional overhead 2D one.

It supports both single-player and multi-player play, has two types of AI player, and can have an arbitrary number of players in a game divided up between humans and AIs however one chooses.

It is fairly straightforward to make new games for it, and the distribution contains many games (in various stages of polish) made by users over the decades that xconq has been being played. It has a huge array of unit types built in that can be used to fashion a large variety of games.
