This issue is a follow up to #9697. The linked PR updated PHPCompatibility to apply rules for PHP 8 (up to 8.4) and therefore some PHPCS checks in the PHP Compatibility workflow started failing.
This new PR fixes those compatibility errors. I wanted to fix them on a separate PR to make both PRs easier to review.
