Color picker control

1. Color control shape

This is the shape of a color control by default

It is in HEX by default (it can be controlled in WinPaletter settings)

3. Default color indicator

You can restore into default color by a right-click then choosing the default color


3. Drag and drop

You can drag a color into another color to make it easier and quicker to change colors

1. Copy a color into another item

  • Left mouse click

3. Copy a color into another item but inverted

  • Left mouse click + Alt

  • Left mouse click + Ctrl

6. Mix two colors

Left mouse click + Ctrl + Alt

7. Change color from default color

Each item has a default color, to pick it you should drag from the small circle that refers to the default color and drop it as you learned before

8. Navigate through different items in different pages

  • It can be done by dragging and hovering like these videos

4. Left click

  • This will open WinPaletter color picker

  • There are 7 types of pickers, you can pick a color from one you like

  • Pressing on this button will import palette from a selected file. It can be from Adobe PhotoShop Color Swatch (.aco), Adobe Color Table (.act), Paint.NET (.txt), GIMP (.gpl), Deluxe Paint (.bbm), Deluxe Paint (.lbm), JASC (.pal), Raw RGB Triplets (.pal)

5. Palette extraction from image

1. Select the source

It is either from current wallpaper or an image on your device

2. Open file

Do this if you selected image as a source

3. Choose maximum colors number

4. Choose quality

5. Decide if extraction will ignore white colors or not

6. Check palette extraction acceleration

This will convert the image into a small image, so it will speed up the process but it may lose colors

7. Start extraction

Press on Result, then on Extract and when the process ends, press on a color

6. Palette extraction from a Windows theme (.theme/.msstyles) or from native Windows presets

  • You can extract from a theme file (.theme/.msstyles)

  • Or you can extract from native Windows presets, open this menu and select a preset

  • Then press on a color from extraction process

7. Palette extraction from a WinPaletter theme

  • You can extract colors from current WinPaletter theme or default WinPaletter themes for Windows XP up to 11

  • Then press on a color from extraction process

8. Screen pixel color picker

  1. Press on this area and keep your mouse button pressed

  1. Move your mouse and stop on the pixel you like

  1. Release your finger from the mouse, this pixel color will be picked up

Tip. Classic color picker

It can be enabled in WinPaletter settings > color item info > Use classic color picker instead of WinPaletter's default one on pressing on a color palette item

5. Right click

This is the context menu of a color control

1. Cut, copy, paste and undo

2. Current color

This is the color from which this context menu is opened, with a track bar to control color degrees (from dark to light)

3. Default color

This is the default color for current item, with a track bar to control color degrees (from dark to light)

4. Previous color (like undo)

This is the previous color for current item, with a track bar to control color degrees (from dark to light)

5. Inverted color

This is the inverted color degree from which this context menu is opened, with a track bar to control color degrees (from dark to light)

5. Selection

Pressing on one color from these will select this color

  • It contains history for colors changes for current item
