I have fabric server version 1.20.2 and everytime i connect with it with JER installed in client i always get stuck at "Joining world" menu and my client start to not responed anymore but if i remove the JER in my mod folder, i can join normal without a problem.
i have JEI installed in server side as well the world-gen.json file config for the world both installed in server and client yet still causing not responding when joining.

JER seems to hang completely, pretty strange. Is this with a specific mod pack?

I have noticed the same issue on Fabric 1.20.1. Thing is, there shouldn't be any mods installed, that interfere with client-side JER. There actually is that mod called "Infinity Cave" on client and server, could this have something to do with that?
