Setting preferred "Photos" application to gThumb doesn´t work if there is more than one image in that folder

It there is one image in that folder it does seem to work. Otherwise upon double clicking on an image it doesn´t open that image but shows a list of all the images in that folder.

Here is an example of this folder with three images..

.. then I doubled clicked on the bourne_shell.png image..
