This is kinda important, because the hdmi passthru seemed to be limited to the recording resolution. My PS3 dashboard runs at 1080p -> game switches down to 720p -> start elgato capture -> exit game -> dashboard is off (its rendered 720p but not correctly scalled).
Since it doesn't crash anything i call it an enhancement but in way it's a 'bug'.

enhancement : auto switch resolution on input
auto switch resolution on input

This is something I have in the back of my head. However, it's very complicated to reverse engineer. I will need lots and lots of time for this.
Currently, some solutions are: set your dashboard to game resolution. This way, you will be able to capture in a single resolution.
Another solution is to restart capture, once resolution gets changed. Close file, close terminal and restart with new resolution. This will fix the scaling issues. Closing the terminal and resetting the device should be sufficient to get a correct HDMI passthrough.
I'm not planning to work on this feature anytime soon though. Sorry.
