Open Source Open Science Iran Movement

people involved:
@armantorkzaban @IranNewsWatch @JJScubaKing @Jiwe-Mobarez @Decentralized-Singularity

Problem

  • We lack a coalition and a neutral ideological movement. We lack sharing of knowledge. More than 100 days into the revolution we still do not have a solid knowledge base for self-defense.

Solution

Open Source Open Science, Open Governance community and movement.
This movement road map can be the first unification of the open source community of Iran, then the unification of the academic community with the goal of open science for Iran, and lastly the people for the goal of open governance.

Literature

Open science is the knowledge that is collaboratively created and shared openly with everyone. In the open science philosophy, knowledge should be indiscriminatory accessible to everyone regardless of a person's knowledge level, language, age, or any other feature. This means multiple versions and mediums of science and education should be provided—videos and documents explaining the topic from amateur to expert levels.

I am proposing a combination of open source with open science to create a true collaborative open science framework where in theory anyone in the world can contribute and potentially you can have contributors that are not born yet.
This introduces a paradigm shift in the updation of papers and needs the creation of a scientific journal to transition from the realm of ideas to reality.

Similiar efforts

Actionable Tasks (topic, plan, deadline)

  • [ Discussion] Discussion about the idea and practicalities - 1 weeks
  • [Joining ososIran] Join the created community in Github
  • [Re-Evaluation of ososIran management and control] Deliberation and meeting - 2 weeks
  • [Moving ososIran under an umbrella term of TCF] While this should be a separate entity, it should be observed and analyzed by an NPO. - 1 week @armantorkzaban
  • [Scientific Journal] Research into creating an open source open science journal. Find academics and professors.
  • [Proposal for creation of open source science journal] Creation of a proposal -> This proposal can be submitted when we have a project transparency protocol.

Since I don't have physical access to TCF, I'm not sure how I can contribute to it directly.

However; good news is that the problem you mentioned is being worked on. I'm working on a repo right now that aims to directly link to knowledge centers, booklets, and telegram channels for education on first aid, etc. We can actually be the ones that focus on this task and aim to provide people with the required information they need to survive.

If you guys find any interesting resources you can send them to me so that later on maybe we can use the repo as the content base of whatever project we'll be working on. Once we have the appropriate content we can focus on other ways of presenting it. But for now a repo should be enough and we should be focused on expanding what is mentioned in the repo,

Oh and BTW, I'm very happy we are also expanding in this area of open science. YAY ^^

But please for the love of humanity don't spread yourselves too thin. Its better to finish a very small project with a very small scope than it is to constantly try to try to one up yourself with more and more ambitious projects.

Hi @Jiwe-Mobarez,
to become a member of TCF you can follow this link transcf.org/en/membership. You will have access to the org's assets as a member.

@JJScubaKing has something very interesting for you.

we are a lot of people, we can enjoy some concurrency, but you are right, we need to focus in order to deliver. If we all feel responsible and develop stronger team spirit every day together, we become exponentially successful by time. TCF is an example. We have achieved a lot only in a single year.
