I am a recognised subject matter expert in the field of barcode generation and member of the AIM Technical Symbolgoy Committee, ADC1 (U.S. T.A.G. to ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31) and GS1 Barcodes and Identification Technical Group. I frequently contribute to draft barcode symbology standards.

I maintain the Barcode Writer in Pure PostScript (BWIPP) library which is the basis for barcode generation in Open Source and commercial applications such as Scribus and SAP, and which has a number of frontends making the engine available in other languages (such pst-barcode for LaTeX and BWIP-JS for node.js and in browser).

Sponsorship would allow me to dedicate regular development days to BWIPP, fixing bugs and implementing proposed barcode standards for the benefit of users of the BWIPP project and the Automatic Identification and Data Capture industry as a whole.

@terryburton

This number of sponsors at the entry tier would initially allow me to dedicate one day per month to work through the backlog of user-affecting bugs in Barcode Writer in Pure PostScript.

A handful of sponsorships at this level would provide a means to work on the implementation of a number of upcoming barcode standards in Barcode Writer in Pure PostScript.

These standards often require the purchase of specifications, the payment of dues to various organisations, and occasional travel and accommodation for standards committee events to collaborate with the symbolgy's sponsors and development team.
