ChirpStack is an open-source LoRaWAN(R) Network Server which can be used to set up LoRaWAN networks. ChirpStack provides a web-interface for the management of gateways, devices and tenants as well to set up data integrations with the major cloud providers, databases and services commonly used for handling device data. ChirpStack provides a gRPC based API that can be used to integrate or extend ChirpStack.

The ChirpStack project is published under a permissive open-source license (MIT), making it possible to use and modify ChirpStack, even for commercial purposes.

Maintaining ChirpStack is a full-time project and a lot of time is invested in keeping ChirpStack up-to-date with the latest specifications, adding new features, resolving bugs, reviewing pull-requests and supporting the ChirpStack community.

About the founder

Orne Brocaar has been working for a long time as a freelance software engineer and has supported many different companies and leading software projects. In 2015, Orne started the first base of what would eventually become ChirpStack. While this initially started as a side-project, the project gained such an amount of interest that in a year's time, ChirpStack became a full-time project.

Through his company, Orne serves a wide range of customers and helps these companies to integrate LoRaWAN(R) and ChirpStack into their offerings. In some cases, Orne works with these companies to add new functionality to ChirpStack.

While Orne Brocaar is the founder and technical lead of the project, there are many contributors that should be credited for the success of ChirpStack! 👏
