It would be really nice if we could have a way of sending voice notifications to the speaker. Something like "the coffee is ready" without needed to be prompted first.

You can send an announcement to a media player. I believe the service is called tts.speak

I suppose you're talking about esphome? With the Arduino framework you can simultaneously use a media_player component (instead of speaker). (There is one caveat. It currently breaks the voice assistant's response: home-assistant/core#92969 )

But I'm not an expert on this.

You can use VLC Telnet addon with usb speaker on HA .
Work with tts.speak for announcement like other media player
