http://epdx.org/search/foo gives a 500 "We're sorry, but something went wrong."

So it does — it seems to be throwing ThinkingSphinx::ConnectionError (Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)): (and also failing to connect to our error reporting service…)
