I think all of the bullet points mentioned are essential and and provide a solid foundation to attracting more collaborators in the future.
I think one event / year is a nice baseline for activities to come. If there is a demand for more events, those could come about organically (bottom-up) instead of being designed and set in stone by us (top-down). If the demand does not exist (which I doubt), one event or hackathon a year shouldn't be very taxing to do if it's executed in a smart way, utilising already existing networks and infrastructure.
I think Turku ❤ Frontend is a very good example of a relatively recent and thriving developer community to look up to and there are some useful pointers about community building in Juha-Matti Santala's blog post: https://hamatti.org/posts/how-to-build-a-kickass-developer-community/
Good to hear. Let us not forget the international network, they can be linked in through virtual connections / presentations, and in some cases even invited to join personally.
