I saw WPro58 listed as a firmware option for the Eachine Pro58, but I'm having a really hard time finding anything that actually says what the firmware does compared to the stock firmware, or why I'd want to use it.

Compared to stock? It works ;)
Stock has problems with diversity algorithm.
This firmware is really simple in use, and flashing it doesnt prevent You to try other 3rd party firmwares with this module (such as Pirx or Achilles Plus).
Of course i will prepare a features list... ...other day ;)

The stock firmware is broken, the diversity does not work as it should, WPRO58 fixes it and diversity works.

WPRO also has a vastly improved user interface along with extra features not available in the stock firmware like screen flip and the ability to use buttons instead of the jog wheel along with other things.

in every aspect, WPRO is vastly better than the stock firmware.

trust me, you wont regret flashing WPRO, it spanks the stock!

I've already flashed WRO58. But I do think what @stevefoxuk just said would suffice to put in the README.md, for new users, or people trying to decide what firmware to use.

This is the best open firmware I am aware of for these modules. But I firmly believe good user facing documentation would encourage usage and result in good user feedback needed for healthy development. So below is what I have figured out so far. -p

WPro58 release v0.9 as seen on eachine pro58 and fatshark googles
*Starts up in search mode utilizing the last channel used before prior power down.

*Fatshark buttons will allow up down actions within the current band.

integrated module buttons in normal mode:
*module short duration center button press beeps but does not appear to do anything.
*module medium duration center button press enables option to allow short press to switch A/m M/a button modes. (auto and manual?)
-M/a appears to allow quick module up or down press to change one channel and hold module up or down press to scroll through channels
-A/m appears to allow quick module up or down press to begin scanning for next used channel

long duration button press opens main menu system
Available items in main menu are:
search, favourites (spelling error?), band scan, settings

*Search is the default mode and allows searching and stepping.

*Favourites (spelling error?) locks channels you can flip though to the eight channels set within favorites section of settings.

*Band scan quickly scans over the entire band creating an RSSI graph.

*Settings available are:
-rssi calibration ( short module center press - read and follow on screen prompts to calibrate the RSSI for diversity switching )
-favorite channels ( short module center press - opens 8 favorites for edit )
-callsign ( short module center press - allows setting callsign which shows in screensaver cylce )
-diversity mode ( short module center press - allows switching AUTO, A, B )
-buzzer( short module center press - allows switching ON, OFF )
-Screensaver ( short module center press - allows switching ON, OFF )
-Flip screen ( short module center press - allows switching NORM, FLIP )
-FS pins mode ( short module center press - allows switching FS, Button ) Warning if you change this setting on FatShark googles you will need to remove the module and externally power it in order to re-enter the settings and revert FS pins mode back to FS.
-reset settings
-exit

Thanks for listing :)

Short middle button press in Search screen stops scan in automatic mode.

And about "favorite vs favourite": http://grammarist.com/spelling/favorite-favourite/
its not "spelling error" ;)
