I'm suggesting we use a bot to merge pull request automatically, this will ensure the project is up to date and definitely saves the Authors time.

I think the changes should be always reviewed. Imagine a pull request that deletes the whole codebase or other destructive actions. But maybe consider adding some more maintainers to this project. It's a pitty that there still PRs from 2017 that are not reviewed.
