Music Equipment - Mixer for Music Room #226
Comments
I agree that a mixer is a high priority, but this seems a bit overkill. I think we can get a good working mixer 8-12 channel for much cheaper (<$200) |
We want a system that has some room for growth. We have been using a 14 channel for years, but could do with something that includes more channel sends, high quality preamps, and more routing options across the board for complex events like audiochurch jams. |
There seems to be some debate here, perhaps we should give it a week or two to try to repair one of the existing Mixers, if we get that going, then I think we can say that this is no longer a blocker for the music room, and that will give us a longer timeline to evaluate these options |
There is no timeline. It is just a suggestion, but it won't really matter until there are more people wanting to use the space and music room. 👍 |
I'll close this for now. It is not priority, but a "nice to have". |
We are in need of a high quality, flexible, simple mixer for universal use at the space. My recommendation is that we purchase a USB-compatible Mackie Pro mixer as they are built like tanks. For permanent use in the space, likely just the music room, it would make sense to invest in a solid mixer that can handle more than 12 simultaneous inputs. This ProFX 22-channel mixer is a good example, as it combines a larger selection of inputs with preset effects and a number of sub-groups, making it easy to setup for multi-use.
Also, easy to connect it to your personal computer. 👍
I'm wondering if we can still dig up donations functionality we lost, because we had a good 4 or 5 years of people donating to the space in relation to Audio Church and the Ableton classes to support the music group. We should have already generated the money needed to make this purchase from those individual donations.
Thank you for considering!
