how to start programs with minimization buttons?

Hi. I'm not sure if this is a configuration problem or what. When I used WSL1 with VcXsrv, xfce4-terminal and lxterminal would start correctly with a minimization button in the title bar. Now that I ditched VcXsrv and upgraded to WSL2, they don't. Other programs correctly draw with minimization buttons... it looks like they are being drawn through a different window manager. How do I get the minimization controls to appear consistently? Thanks.
