How do I get fdnotify working on ubuntu 24.04?

This occurs when the system does not receive any data at all (including silence) from the mic instance. This can occur at longer intervals. Restarting the mic instance typically resolves this. Those two restarts so seen close together odd. Check to see if the mic instance gets any data. If you start with --silly you should a bunch of logs when the there is sound on the input.

Im not seeing any logs. I have the scanner tuned to a open freq thats just outputting static to make sure I have active sound. Iv tried my line in device and a usb sound card with no luck. Is there something i missed during setup? In this screenshot you can see that I have active audio on usb device.

You need to configure pulse audio. If you are unfamiliar with pulse audio you can use Windows as it's simpler. Windows uses the default input device automatically

attempted to follow the informatiom for configuring pulseaudio but playback devices doesnt show under pulseaudio like it says it will when I run fdnotify. does windows also allow listening to multiple devices? I have 5 departments on 5 seperate channels im trying to configure fdnotify with.
