Alphabeth counted pages happen very often in our current manuscript project. In this example the historic arabic paginatation begins on Scan 13, but has pages bound before. These pages have been paginated in the past with letters and in our catalogues describing these pages also with these letters. So it is important to show them in the finished object.

At the moment, we use free text for each sheet and the more pages there are, the longer it takes.

AlphabetischePaginierung

Describe the solution you'd like
Another option in the drag-down-menu for the pagination type next to arabic/roman would be awesome, just to choose alphabetic.

I know the obvious question is: What happens if there are more scans/sheets than 26 letters, maybe the pagination starts over with a or it switches to double letters after z like aa, ab, ac till zz.

I think this option is mostly used for the pagination scope "Only the selected pages" so Kitodo won't really use this, but I understand, that it has to be implemented just in case someone uses the other option.

Describe alternatives you've considered
I don't know how to use it, since everything seems very cryptic, but the Advanced Pagination Option can be used for this. I really can't judge on this, since I don't know how advanced pagination is working.

Used version: Kitodo 3.6.2
