text selection is invisible

In all text entry fields in katzen, it is currently not possible to discern if text is selected.

Not only is there not a background color change on the selected region of text, but also there continues to be a blinking cursor (at the end of the selected region).

Only by deleting or typing something and seeing the selected text disappear is it possible to confirm that yes, in fact, there was some text selected.
