Hi, i got this message:
Could not read instance state, message: null/webapps/ProtonOnWebServer/Proton.properties (No such file or directory), stack trace: [Ljava.lang.StackTraceElement;@15ae62c0
when i try to access:
http://SERVER_ADDRESS:PORT/ProtonOnWebServerAdmin/resources/instances/ProtonOnWebServer

Issue resolved.
You need add
export CATALINA_HOME
export CATALINA_BASE
lines in to catalina.sh
