UW Campus Compass - Project Specification

Executive Summary

The University of Washington Campus Compass project aims to improve the accessibility and convenience of locating campus amenities like vending machines, water fountains, and coffee machines. It addresses the challenges faced by students and faculty in efficiently navigating these resources.

Project Team Breakdown

  • Project Manager: Shivansh Shekhar, Vincent Kao

Project Goals

MVP

  • A map displaying the location of amenities on the UW Campus.
  • Users can specify what they are looking for.
  • Marker pop-ups with detailed descriptions.

Post-MVP

  • Add more amenities like printers and coffee machines.
  • Expand locations to cover more of UW.
  • Implement a report feature for updates.

  • Front End: React Native
  • Back End: Firebase
  • API: Mapbox API

Project Phases

  • Implement basic map with hardcoded locations.
  • Integrate MapBox API for enhanced functionality.
  • Develop a user interface with location/pop-up cards and category selection.
