As an analyst I want to know which tools need to be supported for the first release so that stories can be written and estimated for development.

Acceptance criteria

  • Analyst stories written for each tool on the issue list.

We separated out Oliver (the social/sharing part of the platform) from Shunt (the toolkit) so we didn't need to ask this question on this build. In Oliver 1, we are giving analysts links to tools, not the tools themselves. If we do want to include tools in this build (e.g. adapters for Twitter etc), we'll have to build a rudimentary version of the toolkit ("Shunt") to go with Oliver 1.

If we do this, then the initial toolkit is:

  • Crisis toolkit:
    • Ushahidi instance
    • OSM instance
    • Sahana instance
    • TweakTheTweet instance (if this is available)
  • Vulnerability analysis toolkit
    • twitter search adapter
    • facebook search adapter
    • blog search adapter
    • wordstem generator
    • histogram display

GP is building the first toolset now. The first tools on the list are:

  • HunchWorks (Python, includes hooks into user accounts)
  • Small tools: data encryptor (Python, completely independent)
  • Visualisation tools (Python, based on Processing, to be developed over Summer 2011)

Other tools will be included in/ built for Oliver versions after Fall 2011.
