My first real attempt to use this I assumed there was something wrong with my installation because I would submit addresses like github.com rather than https://github.com and after adding the https:// it worked as expected. It would be convenient to have support for the implicit protocol.

IMO the default scheme should be HTTP and if the server supports HTTPS, it should be redirected. Not every website supports HTTPS.

That's fine, the main thing being that it does not fail with a partial URL with implicit protocol
