[Display Settings] DPI Scaling Issues in Kibana on High-DPI Displays #198843
Comments
@Erikg346 what Scale setting do you have set on your high-DPi display? That will influence how big the UI looks. |
Pinging @elastic/kibana-presentation (Team:Presentation) |
The @elastic/kibana-presentation tag doesn't seem right here, since this is an issue across all of Kibana. @elastic/eui-team or @elastic/kibana-design can maybe have some insight here? |
hey @marius-dr, I switched to 100% and it displays better. |
I know the old Edge was pretty unique when it came to device pixel ratios and viewport dimensions on Windows with the scale factor not set to 100%, but I thought it normalized when Edge became Chromium-based. Just to confirm, @Erikg346 could you please check if Chrome and Firefox render kibana as expected on your machine when Scale is set to the recommended value? I'll keep this issue on my radar and do some Edge on Windows UI testing next week. |

Describe the bug:
I use Kibana on both Windows and macOS platforms, and I've noticed differences in how It is displayed on high-DPI monitors.
When using Kibana on a high-DPI display, such as a laptop with a 4K screen, the interface appears enlarged compared to a standard desktop monitor. This affects usability and consistency across devices.
Steps to reproduce:
Expected behavior:
Expected:
Kibana should display consistently across different monitors regardless of DPI settings.
Actual:
The interface appears larger on high-DPI displays.

Provide logs and/or server output (if relevant):
Any additional context:
Suggestions: Consider implementing DPI-aware scaling in Kibana to ensure consistent display across different monitors."
