White Paper

  • It is useful to provide a snippet of the data set, but it'd be easier to read if the column headings were included.
  • Add an abstract: a single paragraph at the beginning that describes the goal of this document and an overview of the findings.
  • "suggesting that many of the systems users stop using the system after a short time" - review this statement and make it more precise. If i used it once at the beginning of the project and a second time last month, i didn't stop using it after a short time and yet i only show up twice. And what if I plan on using it next month?
  • Table 2 might also be well-visualized by a horizontal bar chart of counts.
  • Do you actually do the geographic analysis suggested by figured 2?
  • Be sure all figures have labels.
  • Redo legend for "Distribution of total users each month" so that the levels are "one" and "more than one". Also be clear what the unit of obs is here: is the first bar filled with users or with messages? I'm pretty sure its the former, but you can also imagine a graphic with the latter so you'll want to be sure the reader doesn't make that mistake.
  • In the final paragraph before "General Patterns", you say "the first is that most users used the system a small number of times". This seems contrary to what the above figure is saying.
  • In your monthly churn rate plot, am I right in reading this that almost all of the people that used the serve in December never returned?
  • For the new users plot (and the next one), you might consider a line plot to since you're looking at a time series. This would keep all the time series plots consistent aesthetically. You could also combine all three one on top of the others.
  • Add a conclusion section that summarizes the main takeaways.

I'll provide feedback on the ShinyApp once Gio and I have a chance to tinker with it this afternoon.
