A colorbar would be useful, but it would require some plugin work most likely. It may be more immediately feasible when working from a notebook, see here: https://forum.image.sc/t/show-colorbar-with-values/44985

related to this: is it possible to normalize colorscales across layers? seems not, but double check... maybe could add a link + rescaling feature to the gui plugin. Probably worth adding min/max info to each image layer's metadata early on to help in that.
