I did a benchmark of packages for raster data processing in Python (rasterio, rasterstats, rioxarray) and R (stars, terra, raster, exactextractr). As you are the creator of rioxarray, I wanted to let you know. I tested the 6 common operations - data loading and writing, extracting values by points, cropping, downsampling, calculating NDVI and zonal statictics.
The code and results are available here: https://github.com/kadyb/raster-benchmark. If you have any comments, please let me know because these can be valuable as I don't have much experience with Python.
Sorry to post this here, but I couldn't find an email to contact.
