There was discussion about how the Meet page with videos animating/autoplaying without sound looked nice because it feels the "room" is having a conversation. However, doing so does not align with Web accessibility standards. Decision to have static or dynamic (or other) videos visually upon loading page will need to be made.

Web accessibility standards advises:

  • As in the case of animated GIFs, the user must push a button or check a box in order to start the animation for video.
  • Ensure the user can also stop animations as well as start them
  • alternatively, have opt-in option before displaying animated page
