AIP 76: Launch AirSwap Community Shop

Summary

• A community store will be set up to buy AirSwap branded products
• Agrimony will be responsible for setting up the store and settling any taxes
• Fulfilment (printing and shipment) will be handled by the vendor
• The community will be able to buy products at base price

Specification

• A print-on-demand storefront will be set up on https://www.threadless.com by the end of Nov 2022
• The store will offer several designs of AirSwap branded products
• More designs can also be added by the community in the future
• A special code will be shared with the community to buy products at cost price
• The goal is not to generate profit, but to provide merch for the community (e.g., for outreach or marketing and brand awareness at events)

Responsibilities

• Agrimony will be responsible for setting up, and managing the storefront
• Threadless will be responsible for printing and shipment of the products
• Threadless will provide support for any questions on order fulfilment
• Members will need to cover the product and shipping costs
• No profits (and hence tax obligations) are expected.
• Agrimony will be responsible for covering any taxes in case of any profits (i.e. merchandise purchased above base price).

Rationale

There has been demand for AirSwap branded merchandise from the community. Branded merchandise will also help bring brand awareness to AirSwap and our protocols at events and conferences.

Threadless is a print-on-demand platform which handles printing, shipment and fulfilment of orders for apparel, accessories, and other lifestyle products. Outsourcing the printing and handling to a 3rd party will remove the need for us to manually manage inventory and logistics.

The products will be purchasable by community members at base price (no profit). The store could also be used to host (limited edition) designs sourced from the community through design contests etc. which would allow community members to participate in the creation of AirSwap branded designs.
