WebVOWL is very often used for visualization of ontologies. These visualizations are often embedded in the form of URLs in scientific papers (some examples). However, since (to my knowledge) no permanent identifier exists yet, these links become useless every time the domain changes (unless the reader informs himself and adjusts the link accordingly on his own).
To overcome this issue, a corresponding entry (such as "w3id.org/WebVOWL/") could be created via w3id . So if the present URL (https://service.tib.eu/webvowl/) changes again, the redirect at w3id could simply be adjusted to then forward the requests to the new URL. All existing requests to the permanent identifier would thus continue to work.
I understand that this would not necessarily entail code changes to this repository but I think it would be a helpful step in preserving functioning links. So if my suggestion would be more suitable elsewhere, let me know.

Contrary to my assumption, a permanent identifier already exists: w3id.org/webvowl
However, this identifier (unfortunately) does not point to the "current" WebVOWL application, which is offline since weeks [Edit: back online], but only to the overview page. This should be updated to be useful. The CEIR has now set up its own WebVOWL instance.
My general impression is that WebVOWL is currently no longer receiving any attention.

Hello all.
