Parts in Custom Categories are not searchable and tags are ignored #12

Currently, part tags for custom categories are not supported and the part does not show up when I type the parts name in the search box in the editor if the part is also in a custom category.

It would be nice if a part could be both in a category and still be searchable, through title and through tags. Is that a possibility?

This is also an issue that sometimes seems to affect Filter Extensions. If a part is "captured" by CCK for inclusion in a CCK category in filter-by-function, FilterExtensions can no longer "see" the part's tags, making it impossible to capture using an FE filter for a top-level category.

It took me several months of wondering why search was broken for these parts. I actually found this by reading through the issues over at Filter Extensions. Anyway, happily uninstalled community category kit and I'll just build comparable configs in FE. Thank you for pointing this out! (over a year ago)

edit: see my later comment, this is not CCK's doing

@marr75 Do you mind making a short video to demonstrate the problem? In my experiments all the parts with the CCK tags can be searched just fine.

Eh, I was actually misled by this old issue, just came back to delete my comment. It's actually category = none (and many of the parts that end up using CCK do this) that is causing my issue. I know because I tried removing CCK and installing a customized version of USI Tools that kills it's CCK like functionality and those parts are still unsearchable.

I probably won't make a video but a minimum install with USI MKS demos it nicely. Type "Ranger" into the search bar, "MKS 'Ranger' Thermal Control System" (category = Thermal) will appear in the results but many other parts containing ranger in the name will not, e.g. "MKS 'Ranger' Auxiliary Control Module" (category = none).

If you have a workaround for this, I'd be excited to hear it.

edit: nvm, it's a stock issue, fixed for myself, entering a bug with Squad
