Overview

Describe the motivation behind your desired functionality.

How would you like the user experience for this feature to work?

Currently users can upload any pdf to be parsed as a transcript, which can lead to issues if you accidentally submit the wrong file.

Proposal

Describe what changes need to be implemented to resolve this issue. Be as
detailed as possible so maintainers can best determine how to implement this
new feature.

Some ideas to handle this:

  • show a preview of the pdf + parsed courses before saving them to db
  • we could validate that the page structure matches what we expect but that seems kinda annoying
  • does orion export transcripts with any sort of metadata we could use to confirm we've got the correct file?
