I'm very excited to report that I've now built 2.2.0 on 7 different Linux variants, including my home-built daily driver system based loosely on the old Slackware model. I'm now running as a native app instead of as an AppImage on my daily driver and 2 support systems.
Thanks to the Linux folks for giving us a better product!
