Describe the bug
SchildiChat is using way too much battery since three days.
Three days ago, SchildiChat used 0,7% of my battery per day. Yesterday it used 14% of my phones battery, while being on the screen for less than 1 minute. Today, I am already at 8,9%, and it's 16 o'clock.

To Reproduce
Well, that's the question

Expected behavior
Use 1-2% of battery, but not 14%.

  • Device: Samsung S20 Ultra 5G
  • OS: Android 13, OneUI 5.1

Additional context

  • App version: 1.6.18.sc79 [40101292] (F-8ab5a544)
  • Store: F-Droid
  • Homeserver: matrix.org
  • Related labs settings: Open at first unread, Mark chats as unread, Enable sweep to reply timeline, Enable threaded messages, Enable live location shared,
    New Layout, Deffered DMs
  • Logs have been submitted using the app's built-in bug report (/"rageshake") mechanism: no

I can't provide any upstream relevance or real steps to reproduce. This battery drain just appeared, I did not modify any settings.

You could look into unifiedpush, or download the gplay version if your device supports FCM. F-Droid version without unifiedpush is polling which is battery-heavy. But that's just how it is for Element, we won't touch that.

Well, the point is that the battery usage was way lower a few days ago. I am using the app since a few months now and never had any battey issues.

I haven't done anything recently that would affect that, so you may want to test upstream and report there then
