Rulebook/Scoring Issues:

  • Receptionist (for next year): Teams seem to be scoring very well. Maybe add more people to make recognition and finding a free seat more difficult. Could be just more people from the start and we remove the host role. Or maybe add more people between the two guests arriving. Maybe replace descriptions (since that can be awkward) with another HRI task for bonus points. I'm not an HRI guy but maybe activity recognition could be something, i.e. Describe what a group of guests are doing - "People on the sofa are playing cards"/"The person on the chair is pouring a drink" etc. Could be difficult to implement and run though. In general people not always looking at the robot but at each other or down on the table at a game might also be a way to make the test more difficult.
  • Carry my Luggage (for next year): Imo the choosing between two bags is kinda awkward and unnatural with the pointing. Maybe just have one bag near the operator and have the robot find it and pick it up (with pointing becoming a DEM assistance). Also maybe change the scenario so the bag needs to be picked up at the car and brought back inside the arena. That way the tests goes right into the meat of the test which imo is the following.
  • Storing Groceries: Bonus Points for placing tiny/heavy only when picked up (I guess this is already in the rules in the DEM section)
  • Storing Groceries: Storing an object without categorizing it correctly should be -50. Nvm that penalty just needs to be removed.
  • Storing Groceries: and and typo
  • Storing Groceries: Clarify that the visualization must show enough of the surrounding scene
  • Clean the Table: DEM penalties are wack
  • Restaurant: I see no need why only the team leader can stay with the robot. Let's maybe just limit it to 2 person per team.
  • Restaurant: Add something about the robot needing to get back to the bar. Maybe add a penalty for not getting close to the bar
