Are you guys still actively working on this mod?

It appears not, and it's quite a shame. They got pretty far along, I'm sure you could fork it and finish it, if you were willing to learn their code.

I'd do it myself, as this is one of my favorite mods of all time, but I've got a server network to manage and I don't have any admins to help. And a job.

This is a great mod, however almost all of it's features have been replaced in other mods. I'm sort of interested in weasel.

Oh yeah, I was in the team for a while there. They've got some amazing plans for weasel... or did. Basically, they had weasel everything. You could control EVERYTHING and ANYTHING with weasel. There were also some default program chips for people who didn't want to write their own, or to extend of of.

It was really an amazing, detailed concept that we went into.

Almost all of the common stuff of powercraft (that one that was placed in other mods so far) died... the only thing we/XOR will/want to set up again is weasel... it may change its name to XScript or maybe it gonna keep its name...
the only fact that we know is that it gonna be far more powerful, it won't have static but dynamic typing and u have a fully dynamic class hirarchy. U can do some really weird stuff in it o.O
But since writing a whole language from scratch (what XOR actually does) isn't easy :) that's what it takes that long... (as far as i know) ye, haven't been doing much for powercraft the most time... but i always took part by encouraging by making wishes about new features (maybe that threw us back several times bcs the wish couldn't be met with the current coding base)... but nevertheless it seems as if we will only continue the mod for being able to script in minecraft...
Maybe we will rename it to something more exact in order to not to confuse since there isn't any kind of powercrafting but powercoding :)
if u have some fine ideas feel free to say it... XOR (and me) will decide then :)
(btw. i'd prefer skype for chatting)

ComputerCraft, OpenComputers, RedPower (I believe at least one clone
brought the computers back up to 1.7), PneumaticCraft? I know there's a
couple more too, and that's only if you include in game scripting of course.

I'd always vastly preferred PowerCraft, especially with our previous
conversations of how powerful it would be, but I have to say, that last
statement simply isn't true.

You're going to have a pretty tough market, really. MFR and a ton of other
mods (although I don't know specific names) have conveyors. Forestry,
thaumcraft, and I'm sure plenty of other mods (TBH I've been in my own
world over here for a long time, my modpack has had the same set of mods
for the most part since minecraft 1.4.7), automatic crafting is covered by
basically every mod (Bluepower, Buildcraft, Applied Energistics,
ComputerCraft, and more and more and more.... this list could basically be
endless, as almost any given mod capable of transporting items has an
autocrafter). Every redpower clone has your logic gates (lots of them), as
well as a couple of independent mods, and even RedLogic is there for logic
gates if you don't want the bulk with any others. Almost all of the
computer mods out there are capable of interacting with redstone, to be
used for custom logic gates, although they are a lot more bulky. That's a
free market, but the questions are:

  • Who would use it?
  • Would they want the rest of the bulk of this mod for it?
You basically also want to have the rest of the mod, and, to be honest, not
many people would use it. Although it would be the vastly preferred for
those who currently use computer mods to do it... if they wanted to learn
Weasel. Bringing me to my next point:
Who the hell wants to learn weasel? It's a great language, but people
already want LUA as they know LUA and everything uses LUA. People may SAY
they want something different, but I know that's a lie after 2 years of
server ownership. Skuli would agree with his 2 years before me running the
very same server. Computercraft has computers and turtles, Opencomputers
has computers and I think something turtlelike too, PneumaticCraft has
drones, and those not just are scriptable, they can be coded with little
blocks that are incredibly noob friendly. As always, I could continue going
on, but it's pointless. I just felt I should make sure you knew that you're
no longer in your own world, and your entire fanbase has essentially ceased
to exist and you'll need to restart from scratch there, although a few
people might move back. And, TBH, your farming mechanisms are the simplest
but a lot of people would agree that they are extremely OP and for the most
part are best for creative, and for survival are simply too powerful. Free
to run infinitely, and instantly do everything.... yeaaah, a little op.
Conveyors are great too, but I haven't tried the other mods's, but I
believe they are roughly the same. At least you stand alone with the fisher.

Just a refresher in case you forgot.

Now I am not saying I don't like PowerCraft over other mods, I do vastly
prefer many of its features. I am just saying you will have very tough
competition and to keep that in mind.

Pneumaticcraft is not programming :P it's purely drag and drop.

That's a very fuzzy line. And either way, it still gives you a pretty
decent amount of power over the drones.

There's also Steve's factory manager. It's more programming-like then Pneumaticcraft, although it's not drone-controlling, it's for controlling inventories.

If you've never modded before you're going to have a hard time... good luck.
