Thanks for a great first session Thursday! Thank you to Dr. Corey Clatterbuck for guest teaching about Better Science for Future Us and sharing more examples during the Q&A about how clear instructions and thorough documentation (or lack thereof) can make or break our processes! Our team heard recurring themes of the importance of documentation and the benefit of open data (even if open doesn’t mean public). Below is a light digest of Call 1, including a reminder to schedule your Seaside Chat before Call 2 and to save the date for an additional optional Co-Working time after Call 2 on Thu., Apr. 18th, 1:30-2:30 pm. Looking forward to seeing you then!

Something we heard that resonated with us from someone we spoke with in our first breakout group was:
We’re all at the beginning of figuring things out – want to do so together! +1+1+1 +1 +1+1 +1 +1
Excited to see what others are working on +1+1
Sometimes we all tackle similar data problems in our own way, in silos – want to find the common and streamline when we can + collaborate more +1+1+1
What are you already doing aligning with the Openscapes Mindset?
We have a team that’s been open to exploring different ideas from all team members. Every member’s perspective is valued fostering an inclusive culture.+1+1+1
Our team is aware that there are better ways we could be collecting, analyzing, storing data and lots of opportunity for people who are interested to jump in. Our project is advancing DEIJ because it would not exist without our tribal partners and the work that they have done to collect data and elevate this topic.+1 +1 +1
Making information and data accessible to folks who need to use it i.e., straightforward data viz +1
I think Openscapes Mindset is applicable to our personal lives as well as work, my projects are already naturally drawn towards more efficiency/accessibility
